Self-checkout at Target now available
Target is now allowing self-checkout with WIC purchases. Some Target stores have item limits at self-checkout, and it’s important to be aware of the limit before entering the self-checkout line. WIC customers should select, “Cards” at the payment screen to initiate WIC payment. Balances due can be paid with another payment type after the WIC transaction completes. A video demonstration will be on the website soon. In the meantime, direct questions to health.wicvendor@state.mn.us.

Minnesota WIC logo merchandise – last day to order October 15
If you missed the August 31 deadline but are still interested in purchasing any Minnesota WIC logo merchandise (t-shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, hats, vests, sweatpants, etc.), visit this website: Twin Pines Imprinting. Local agencies may purchase for clinic use (polos, t-shirts, sweatshirts). If your agency chooses to place an order, first check in with your consultant and share your proposed order total since there are some contract limitations. Items cannot be used for participant incentives. Shipping and delivery fees will be applied, and items will be shipped directly to you. The online store will be available until October 15. If you have additional questions reach out to tina.breitenbach@state.mn.us.
Quarterly Medical Assistance texting reminder – delay
Minnesota WIC sends quarterly text messages promoting the program to Medical Assistance (MA) recipients, who qualify for WIC.
In 2024, texts will go out the first Monday in February, May, August, and November. We will start the texts on Monday, Nov. 18.
- WIC uses lists of new MA recipients who are younger than five, are pregnant or are six months postpartum for the text outreach efforts. We carefully review the data to make sure outreach texts go to potential WIC participants, not current participants.
- The texts are sent to recipients over five weeks.
- The text is available in English, Spanish, and Somali.
- Starting in November there will be two versions of a text message. One tailored for pregnant MA enrollees and one for all other MA enrollees.
For more details, refer to our quarterly medical assistance texting on our WIC Communications and Outreach webpage.
