Webinars - Health Equity Series

Join us for a three-part health equity webinar series hosted by Health Care Homes. This series will focus on advancing health and racial equity, fostering a sense of belonging within the workplace and health systems, and understanding the fundamentals of community engagement as a key health equity practice. Deepen your knowledge, enhance your skills, and contribute to creating more equitable and inclusive health care environments.

Advancing Health and Racial Equity

Date: Oct. 9

Time: Noon - 1 p.m.

The Advancing Health and Racial Equity learning session will introduce foundational concepts of health and racial equity, social determinants of health, and the root causes of inequities. The learning session will include presentation style and attendee participation as it relates to experiences with equity in the workplace and Health Care Homes certification standards.

Fostering Belonging within the Workplace and within Health Systems

Date: Oct. 22

Time: Noon - 1 p.m.

Fostering Belonging explores social identities and how our experiences of where we work, play and live influence our understandings and beliefs. We will deepen our understanding of how biases toward social identities form and how they may show up in the workplace, especially in the areas of workplace culture and health care practices and policies.

Opportunities for Community Engagement in Health Care Systems

What is community engagement and why is it important to advance health equity in health care systems? In this Community Engagement learning session, participants will discuss the fundamentals of community engagement as a health equity practice. Participants will gain a better understanding of the importance of community engagement and how the practice advances health equity in the workplace.

Webinar: The Case for Weight Inclusive Healthcare*

Date: Oct. 30

Time: Noon - 1 p.m.

In this webinar, you'll learn about weight inclusive healthcare, including its principles, evidence, and benefits. We'll discuss how weight stigma in healthcare can harm both physical and mental health, causing people to avoid care, experience medical mistakes, develop eating disorders, and face other health issues. Health care providers and policy makers will discover why addressing weight stigma is important for providing trauma-informed and patient-centered care for everyone. You'll receive resources for further learning, tips on creating weight inclusive healthcare environments, and a better understanding of how to support patients in larger bodies.
