UUAV flu vaccine coming soon

We are happy to announce that UUAV 2024-25 flu vaccine will begin shipping to providers soon. We will continue to ship flu vaccine orders as doses become available from the manufacturers throughout the coming months. To make sure all providers have flu vaccine early in the season, and because different brands and presentations become available at different times, you may not receive all of your doses in one shipment. Sites can expect to receive a few small shipments throughout the distribution season. You will receive a confirmation email when we process your order. You can check the status of your prebook requests at any time in MIIC. See page 6 of our Special Vaccine Event User Guide for more details.

Get ready for flu season

1. Providers should begin vaccinating priority patients as soon as they have vaccine.

• Children 6 months through 8 years old who have received fewer than two influenza vaccine doses before July 1, 2024, separated by at least four weeks apart or vaccination history is unknown.
• Pregnant people in their third trimester.

Watch for additional communications from MDH as more information becomes available from CDC.

1. To ensure adequate supply for larger-scale influenza vaccination clinics (e.g., walk-up, or drive-thru clinics), consider scheduling them for late October to early November.
2. Provide Vaccine Information Statements to patients. Ensure you are using the appropriate and most current VIS: Influenza (flu) vaccine (Inactivated or Recombinant) or Influenza (flu) vaccine (Live, Intranasal) by referring to CDC: Current VISs.
3. Read the 2024 RespVax Guide when it is posted online. Get an email alert when the guide and other flu materials are updated by subscribing to the MDH Influenza Information for Health Professionals. Type in your email address at the bottom of the page and click on “submit.”
4. Check the status of your flu orders in MIIC under “manage special vaccine event.” As flu vaccine doses become available from the manufacturers, MDH staff will process your flu prebook vaccine orders in MIIC. Sites can check the status and details of their flu vaccine requests in MIIC throughout the distribution season.
