Pumping: topic of the month
Many lactating parents express their milk at some point during their breastfeeding journey. The reasons for expressing human milk can vary from building up a freezer stash, increasing milk supply, having milk for others to feed baby, being away from baby for work/school, or inability to feed baby directly from the breast/chest. Pumping: topic of the month (PDF) will help staff support our pumping participants at WIC.

Anoka County WIC: WIC and Hospital Collaboration
During the pandemic connections with community partners in breastfeeding support were lost for Anoka County WIC. Anoka was able to use a grant from Coffective to increase collaboration with the local birth hospital to help reestablish partnerships and support staff lactation education.
The project includes training for select hospital staff in clinical lactation support through the CLC course. In addition, Anoka WIC is hosting a lactation speaker at Mercy hospital free of charge to anyone in the hospital and community. Anoka hopes this project will improve engagement in our local Anoka County Breastfeeding Coalition by highlighting our coalition and inviting attendees to join the event.
Anoka County welcomes all to their free event at Mercy hospital. Refer to Supporting Parents with Infant Feeding in the First Week flyer for more information or contact Lisa.White@anokacountymn.gov.
We're celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. Since the opening of the first clinic in 1974, WIC has been committed to improving maternal and child outcomes.
The August WIC 50th Anniversary Partner Toolkit (PDF) is ready and includes a breastfeeding education video, and social media graphics, and sample social media post language.
Check out the WIC 50th Anniversary webpage for additional resources.
