International Medical Graduate (IMG) Primary Care Residency Grant
Minnesota faces a shortage of primary care physicians, particularly in rural and underserved areas of the state. Immigrant physicians can help strengthen our primary care workforce and serve our diverse communities across the state. The IMG Primary Care Residency Grant Program provides funding to accredited primary care residency programs in Minnesota to support residency positions for Minnesota immigrant international medical graduates (IIMGs). Applications are due Friday, Sept. 6.
International Medical Graduate (IMG) Career Guidance and Support Grant
The International Medical Graduate Career Guidance and Support Grants are awarded to eligible nonprofit organizations and postsecondary educational institutions to provide career guidance and support services to immigrant IMGs seeking to enter the Minnesota health workforce. Applications are due Friday, Sept. 13.
Health Professionals Clinical Training Expansion Grant
The Health Professionals Clinical Training Expansion Grant awards grants to support the establishment or expansion of clinical training for eligible health professional training programs. Providing funding opportunities for clinical training programs will strengthen Minnesota’s health care workforce and increase access to primary care and mental health services for rural and underserved communities. It is now open for applications through Monday, Sept. 9.
Clinical Dental Education Innovations Grant
The Clinical Dental Education Innovations Grant program awards grants to sponsoring institutions and clinical dental training sites for projects that increase dental access for underserved populations and promote innovative clinical dental education or clinical training programs. all applications must be submitted through the ORHPC Online Grants Portal by Monday, Sept. 16.

The Primary Care Residency Expansion Grant is now open for applications. The Commissioner of Health is authorized to award grants to sponsoring institutions and clinical dental training sites for projects that increase dental access for underserved populations and promote innovative clinical dental education or clinical training programs. Applications are due Monday, Sept. 16.
Minnesota Health Professional Loan Forgiveness: Hospital Nurses
The purpose of Minnesota Health Professional Loan Forgiveness Program is to recruit and retain health care professionals to needed areas and facilities in Minnesota. Loan forgiveness is an important benefit for health care professionals as well as health care facilities and communities experiencing a shortage of access to health care service. Applications for registered nurses in nonprofit hospitals is due Sunday, Oct. 6.

KFF introduces Health Policy 101
A new Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) resource—Health Policy 101—explains the basics on a wide range of topics about health programs and policy in the United States, such as Medicare and Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, health care costs and affordability, women’s health issues, and the politics of health care. Health Policy 101 chapters are available online and can be downloaded in PDF format. The "101" was created to serve as a mini "textbook" for faculty and students interested in health policy. Dr. Drew Altman, KFF’s president and CEO, is the editor of the 101 series.
The Rural SUD Workforce: Recruit, Retain, Sustain
The Department of Humans services will be co-sponsoring a day-long event entitled, The Rural SUD Workforce: Recruit, Retain, Sustain. It will take place Friday, Sept. 20, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Minnesota State University, Mankato Centennial Student Union, 620 West South Road, Mankato, MN 56001.
