Reminder! NWA WIC Participant Survey
The 2023 National WIC Association survey is available for participants to complete through Sept. 5.
The survey is available in English, Spanish, and Somali and is posted to the MN WIC website: WIC Survey 2023. As of Aug. 15, 1,646 Minnesota WIC participants completed the survey.
A third app notification will go out Sept. 2, as a final reminder to participants who haven’t completed the survey to do so as soon as possible.

Free School Meals
With the implementation of Minnesota’s Free School Meals Program, the process for determining Adjunctive Eligibility for WIC based on Free/Reduced Price School Meals remains the same. More information: Free School Meals
USDA Awards Polk Norman Mahnomen WIC Gold Breastfeeding Award of Excellence
 The United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service (USDA-FNS) awarded Polk-Norman-Mahnomen Community Health Services (CHS) the Gold Breastfeeding Award of Excellence. Polk-Norman-Mahnomen CHS WIC is the only Minnesota WIC clinic earning this recognition this year.

USDA-FNS leadership visited Minnesota August 18 to present the award and celebrate Polk-Norman-Mahnomen WIC at Wonderful Life Foods in Crookston, Minn. The local family-owned natural food store and deli was the first business to sign the Polk-Norman-Mahnomen “Anytime, Anywhere” business pledge, showing their commitment to breastfeeding parents. |

Formula Substitutions Ending - Health Care Provider Message
MN WIC will send this message to health care provider partners this week ahead of formula substitutions ending August 27. Please share with health care providers in your community.
Please share this information with your partners:
All Minnesota WIC formula substitutions end August 27, 2023. Participants can purchase the formula brand and can size listed on their benefits. Substitute brands and larger can sizes for all contract formulas and medical formulas are no longer WIC-allowed.
Minnesota WIC contract formula includes:
- Enfamil Infant Formula (12.5 oz. powder, 13.0 oz. concentrate)
- Enfamil Gentlease (12.4 oz. powder)
- Enfamil Reguline (12.4 oz powder)
- Enfamil A.R. Added Rice (12.9 oz. powder)
Infants receiving soy formula receive Abbott Nutrition soy formula.
- Similac Soy Isomil (12.4 oz. powder, 13.0 oz. concentrate)

MDH WIC at the State Fair
It’s finally fair time! Celebrate summer in Minnesota with the whole family. For the duration of the fair the TPT nursing nest is a quiet place to nurse, pump or just take a break!
Be sure to visit the Twin Cities PBS Nursing Nest on the corner of Underwood St and Lee Ave, during the Minnesota State Fair (Aug. 24-Sept. 4, 2023). If you visit, please take pictures and tag us on social media using the hashtag #TPTWICNursingNest:
