Strong Foundations Evidence-Based Home Visiting: 2024 Annual Budget and Work Plan Guidance
2024 Budget Timeline
- Your Grant Manager will email you a 2024 budget template by Friday, August 4.
- MDH will host a Q&A session on Thursday, August 17 at 9 a.m.
- 2024 budgets must be uploaded in the grant interface by Tuesday, September 12.
- Grant Managers will review and ask for any follow up or edits by Friday, October 13.
- 2024 Award Letters will be provided to grantees by Wednesday, November 1.
2024 Budget Guidance
- Strong Foundations target caseloads will be unchanged for 2024.
- Strong Foundations cost per family will remain $7,000.
- Grantees may submit a core budget up to $7,000 per family.
- Grantees with existing collaborative awards may budget up to $130,000.
- Grantees with MECSH trainer budgets may propose up to 0.2 FTE of their trainer and travel expenses directly related to their MECSH training responsibilities.
- NEW: Model affiliation, curriculum, and training fees will not be included in the cost per family calculation for 2024. More instructions will be provided by your grant manager.
2024 Work Plan
- You do not need to update and resubmit your Strong Foundations work plan at this time. Your practice consultant will work with you to adjust your current work plan to reflect 2024 activities in your 2024 Quarter 1 practice connection.
Minnesota Workers’ Rights and Protections for Pregnant and New Parents
Registration is open for a live webinar on Thursday, August 17 8:30 –10 a.m., discussing the updates to worker protections for pregnant and new parents. Corey Walton (U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division) and David Skovholt (Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry) will share updates and case examples highlighting the 2023 changes to the law.

Learning Cohort for Home Visitors: Confronting the Impacts of Racism and Bias on Maternal and Child Health Outcomes
Minnesota’s Coalition for Family Home Visiting (MCFHV) is offering a second year of learning cohorts designed for home visitors to recognize how racial bias impacts maternal and child health outcomes. This foundational training, Confronting the Impacts of Racism and Bias on Maternal and Child Health Outcomes, will provide home visitors with language and resources needed to speak with families about their cultural needs, race, and the development of their child’s cultural identity.
These learning cohorts will be offered in four regions and will meet in-person every month to discuss the impacts of bias and racism in the home visiting field.

- November: Management Strategies
