End of Emergency SNAP (E-SNAP)
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Minnesota received a waiver from the federal government to temporarily provide extra Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits known as Emergency SNAP, or E-SNAP. Federal officials declared that the COVID Emergency SNAP allotments will end after February 2023.
The Department of Human Services is sending a mailing to all E-SNAP recipients notifying them of the end of E-SNAP. The Extra COVID Emergency SNAP benefits to end flyer or notice will begin arriving in homes the week of February 13 in English, Hmong, Karen, Somali or Spanish, based on preferred written language.
For more information refer to Extra COVID Emergency SNAP to end. Please help spread the message and help SNAP recipients prepare for the end of Emergency SNAP.
Please reach out to eaesd.communications.dhs@state.mn.us with any questions or requests.
Breastfeeding Support Interest Added to Online Forms
The online Apply for WIC application and the online Minnesota WIC Referral Form for Health Care Providers have been updated to include a check box to indicate interest in breastfeeding education and support services. This update will allow participants to be prioritized for breastfeeding contacts and will decrease the time for Health Care Providers completing a referral for breastfeeding support.
