Civil Rights Materials Update
Quick reminder, last year the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) Civil Rights Division passed a memorandum to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation. As a result, updated language was required to be included on our various Civil Rights materials.
And Justice for All posters
We continue to wait for the updated “And Justice for All” posters from USDA. There is no indication when they will available. You can find an image of the most current poster on our website under Public Notification Requirements (WIC Civil Rights Resources).
In mid-2022, we collected the number of updated posters each local agency would need. Once we receive the updated version from USDA, we intend to mail them directly to each local agency. We will communicate when the updated posters are in and when we intend to mail them. Please feel free at any time to reach out to Jenny.skinner@state.mn.us to confirm what you ordered. For now, we will indicate on our materials order form and the Civil Rights page on our website that we are still waiting for the updated version. Thank you for your patience.
Rights and Responsibilities
The Rights and Responsibilities have been updated and are available for local agencies to print directly from our website as needed. Here is the link for the form WIC Rights & Responsibilities.

Funding Opportunity! Local Agency Vendor Partnership and WIC Customer Satisfaction Project
Local agencies are invited to submit project proposals that address WIC customer satisfaction and the shopping experience in their community. The purpose of this grant is to support local agency ideas that address some of the obstacles participants face in their community. There are numerous ways local agencies can build relationships with a vendor(s) and familiarize partners and participants with training tools available under WIC Shopping Help on the MN WIC website. In the past, grant funds were used for grocery tours, education materials and for shopping with participants that use English as a second language. We welcome your creative ideas!
This is an opportunity for local agencies to assess, create and test innovative approaches to foster a positive WIC shopping experience. Agencies may submit a proposal up to $5,000. Proposals that exceed this limit may be considered. Projects must be completed by September 30, 2024. Local agencies will receive funding after the project is completed and an invoice is submitted for project expenses.
For more information visit the Additional Funding for Local WIC Agencies webpage. The Local Agency Vendor Partnership and WIA Customer Satisfaction Project application is available there.
