Starting Jan. 17, sites will be able to order single dose vials of Pfizer bivalent booster vaccine for 12 years and older. The minimum order is 50 doses, and the maximum order is 150 doses with increments of 50 doses. These vials are intended for smaller sites that rarely have more than one person in a 12-hour period who needs a dose.
These single dose vials have the same storage and handling as all the other Pfizer products. They can be stored in the ultra-cold freezer until expiration or in the fridge for up to 10 weeks (or expiration date if sooner).
This product is ideal for hubs with ultra-cold storage that redistribute to small, rural locations, or small locations that can utilize 50 doses within 10 weeks. However, small locations must use up their multi-dose vial inventory, even if just giving one dose from the multi-dose vial, before switching to single dose vials. Larger locations that can vaccinate more than one person in a 12-hour period should continue to use the multi-dose vial inventory.
