The CDC’s Advisory Committee recommended vaccination with Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for children 6 through 17 years old on Thursday, June 23 following the previous FDA authorization on June 17.
- Children 6 through 11 years old will get a 50-mcg dose, given as a 2-dose series, 4-8 weeks apart. Vaccine for this age group is in a vial with a blue top and purple border. These vials are labeled for adult booster dose only but will also be used for the 50 mcg (0.5 mL) dose for 6 through 11-year-olds. These doses will come with pediatric ancillary kits. - Children 12 through 17 years old will get a 100-mcg dose, given as a 2-dose series, 4-8 weeks apart. This is the same dose as adults and will use the same red cap vial with the light blue border.
