Minnesota Department of Health

March 2, 2021

Good afternoon,

Today, the Minnesota Department of Health posted our Minnesota Guidance for Allocating and Prioritizing COVID-19 Vaccine – Phases 1b, 1c, 2 document on the MDH website: COVID-19 Vaccine Phases and Planning. This document provides more details on eligible groups for vaccination within each phase. There are also definitions for the essential worker categories and for the populations at high risk for severe disease, which include underlying medical conditions and age categories.

We have also posted an updated version of the phase 1a guidance document on the same web page with some clarifying language for people eligible in phase 1a – third priority group.

Currently, we are still focusing on vaccinating the remaining groups in phase 1a; and people age 65 and older, educators, and child care workers. We are aiming to vaccinate at least 70% of Minnesotans age 65 and older before expanding eligibility to other groups. We aim to reach this benchmark by the end of March.

We will continue to provide more information and updates as we move forward with vaccination in Minnesota.
