MDH has launched the COVID-19 Vaccine Connector

The COVID–19 Vaccine Connector is a new tool to help Minnesotans find out when, where, and how to get their COVID–19 vaccine. Signing up for the Vaccine Connector is easy, safe, and secure. All Minnesotans should sign up to receive updates from the State of Minnesota about your eligibility to receive the vaccine. There will be no cost and no restricted time period for signing up. Health insurance and personal identification forms are not required for signing up. Minnesotans unable to sign up online can have family or friends help them sign up online, or call 833–431–2053 (toll–free) for assistance signing up over the phone. Translation is available by phone in all languages.

Please share the COVID–19 Vaccine Connector with your networks and encourage all Minnesotans to sign up.

The 2021 MN Rural Health Conference

The 2021 Minnesota Rural Health Conference will be a two-day virtual conference June 22-23. Sign up for email updates to receive conference updates and when registration will be available.

Grants and other funding

New: Dental Faculty Loan Repayment Program

The Dental Faculty Loan Repayment Program is open for applications. This program will increase the number of dental and dental hygiene faculty in the workforce. Grantees will create and manage a loan repayment program for individuals who serve as full-time dental faculty. Apply for this grant on grants.gov. Applications are due April 19

New: Home and Community–Based Services (HCBS) Employee Scholarship grant

The Home and Community–Based Services Employee Scholarship grant, assists qualified HCBS providers fund employee scholarships for education and training in nursing and other health care fields. Grant funds must be used to cover costs related to a course of study that is expected to lead to career advancement with the provider or in the HCBS field. Applications are due to MDH by 11:59 p.m., March 26. For more information, contact: Health.HCBSgrant@state.mn.us

Reminder: Community Clinic Grant

The Community Clinic Grant, supports the capacity of eligible organizations to plan, establish or operate clinical services for populations with low income and/or living in rural areas of the state. Rural response to Coronavirus Disease 2019

The Rural Health Information Hub has a compendium of rural-specific activities and guidelines, including Rural Healthcare Surge Readiness, a tool with resources for responding to a local surge in cases.

HRSA wants to hear your thoughts on rural health

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is seeking people living in rural areas to participate in virtual discussions about health. The purpose of these discussions is to obtain consumer feedback on newly developed health materials. HRSA is open to speaking with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Sessions will be held in March and May via Zoom and will last approximately 90 minutes. If you or someone you know may be interested, please have them contact Heidi.Palacios@SchlesingerGroup.com or call 972–503–3100 ext: 407 by March 15. Feedback from rural populations will help HRSA create easy to understand health materials for everyone.

Announcing the HHS Mask Distribution Program

On February 24, to support President Biden’s call to “mask up” for 100 days in order to reduce the spread of COVID–19, the White House announced a partnership between HHS and the Department of Defense (DoD) to deliver free masks to HRSA–funded health centers and Health Center Program look–alikes for distribution to patients, staff, and community members. This initiative recognizes health centers as vital partners in community-based outreach efforts to reach vulnerable populations. DoD is also working with the Department of Agriculture to supply masks to 300 food banks as part of the effort. You may review the HHS Mask Distribution Program on the COVID–19 FAQ webpage.
