Flags Flown at Half-Staff

In accordance with a proclamation issued by the President, Governor Walz directed all flags at state and federal buildings in Minnesota to be flown at half-staff, effective immediately, until sunset on Sunday, May 24, 2020, to remember, mourn, and honor lives lost due to COVID-19.

Individuals, businesses, and other organizations also are encouraged to join in lowering their flags to honor Minnesotans who have lost their lives to COVID-19 and their families.

What's New

Daily Highs in Both New Cases and Deaths

Today, Minnesota unfortunately reached a record high in the number of new cases reported, up more than 800 from yesterday. Sadly, we also had our highest daily total of deaths, up 33 from yesterday. For the latest data, see Situation Update for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

COVID-19 is impacting every walk of our lives. Everyone is personally affected by the closures, cancellations, and restrictions. At the same time, these numbers underscore the need for a cautious approach as we turn the dial on reopening. Minnesota is still very much on the upward climb in this pandemic. We must continue to practice social distancing, washing hands, covering coughs, staying home when sick, and getting tested if you have COVID-like symptoms.
