MIIC application changes

Single Vaccine Assessment Report

MIIC assessment reports can help you find out how well your client population is immunized and plan improvement activities. Check out your client population's flu immunization rates with our brand new Single Vaccine Assessment Report!

Use the standard report option to see rates for defined age groups during the most recently completed flu season. Use the list-based and custom report options to choose specific age groups and other details that can make the report most useful for you.

We hope to add more vaccines to this report in the future. For more information, see the User Guide: Single Vaccine Assessment Reports at Immunization Assessment.

MIIC data and statistics

MIIC Child Care Assistance Program participation

Minnesota child care centers can participate in the MIIC Child Care Assistance Program to get help completing their annual Child Care Immunization Report. In 2018, we had 183 child care centers participate in the program, and over 1,000 active child care centers use MIIC to keep track of immunization information! Find more information about the assistance program and other ways child care centers can use MIIC at MIIC and Child Care Resources.

Immunization record requests

We provide a service that out-of-state providers and the public can use to request MIIC immunization records. This service helps members of the public meet child care, school, travel, or other immunization requirements. It also helps out-of-state providers make sure their patients get the vaccines they need.

Members of the public can submit a request online or by phone. Out-of-state providers can submit a request by phone with the patient's consent. In 2018:

  • We received approximately 11,000 requests from out-of-state providers and the public.
  • 75 percent of requests were submitted by the public using our online form.
  • We were able to find and send over 90 percent of requested records.

Cass County Health, Human and Veterans Services

Local public health departments can use MIIC data and tools to help plan, implement, and evaluate immunization improvement efforts. Cass County Health, Human and Veterans Services in Walker, MN, included immunization improvement as a key goal in their 2011-2015 strategic plan. MIIC was part of several objectives that helped them accomplish this goal, including: training Cass County staff to use MIIC features, using MIIC to identify and reach out to children due or overdue for immunizations, and using MIIC to identify Tdap vaccination status for postpartum women/caregivers of infants.

Renee Lukkason, Immunization Team Leader for Cass County, said their immunization improvement work was so successful that Cass County "no longer has the immunization goal as a current part of our strategic plan…However, we continue to implement some of the strategies in the plan as part of our normal immunization work within public health.” MIIC has become an essential part of Cass County’s routine work, including identification of vaccination status for home visiting and WIC clients, and continued mailings to children due for vaccines. Their immunization team (pictured above) is excited to use MIIC in new ways as they expand mailing efforts to target adolescents who need Tdap, HPV, and Meningococcal vaccines. Thanks for your fantastic work, Cass County!
