Continue to offer support locally
After an 18-month implementation period, all public housing
in Minnesota (and nationwide) on July 31 became smoke free!
Kudos to everyone who has provided support to their local
public housing agencies (PHAs) throughout the transition. Smoke-free public housing
will lead to healthier, cleaner, and safer living and working spaces for
residents, staff and guests of public housing.
Like all policy change, long term smoke-free policy success
takes time and commitment. Please continue to follow up with the PHAs in your
area to offer support with policy compliance and enforcement, as well as to
provide cessation resources. Information and resources can be found at Smoke-free public
housing: healthier and safer living for Minnesotans website.
Content supports breastfeeding
promotion
Minnesota Department of Health’s Women, Infants and
Children (WIC) program staff recently posted a toolkit on the MDH website to
help support social media efforts related to breastfeeding promotion. Check out
the WIC
Communications & Outreach page for great
content ideas and photos you can use for your own social media channels.
Happy auditing!
SHIP grantees who are currently participating in data
collection for the store assessments should make sure to have all assessments
completed by Aug. 31 as outlined in the guidance document.
This deadline is firm, based on evaluation and data analysis
purposes for MDH and Counter Tools. For those who are collecting data on paper,
this also means you should have all of your data entered into the Store Audit
Center by Aug. 31. Make sure you are on track to meet the deadline!
If you have any questions regarding this announcement or the
store assessment process, please contact Charla Rios at charla@countertools.org.
Thank you and happy auditing!

Project narrative
We’re providing a series of tips
to grantees to help guide completion of work plans.
The first focuses on your
Project Narrative – this section is about telling the story of the project.
Describe what will be done, why the activities were chosen,
how the community informed the decision making and how the activities will
advance health equity.
