What is this layering business all
about?
Our work to create healthy communities and
improve the health of Minnesotans often reaches across SHIP strategies and
into the broader community. At one of our sessions, we'll learn
more about how layering streamlines work to expand impact and deepen
partnerships.
F is for FEST, the Eagan Market Fest, that is
On Wednesday, while you're in town for the SHIP
Statewide Meeting, stop by the Eagan Market Fest from 4-8 p.m.!
This summer market (within steps of our meeting location) features live
music, activities and on-site concessionaires. Find fresh produce, locally
made food products, fine arts and fun! Learn about healthy living and enjoy
live entertainment, cooking demonstrations and more from one of the top voted

Some final tips
Dress comfortably. There will be time to walk around the lovely outdoor

The Buffalo Area Dementia Friends Action Team has been
working hard for a year and a half to provide support to the aging population
in and around Buffalo. As a result of a community assessment process,
the group identified four focus areas: training,
awareness, education and caregiver support.
Training has and will continue to occur in numerous
sectors, including businesses, churches, clinics and hospitals, law
enforcement and workplaces. SHIP staff already trained members of
the Wright County Sheriff’s Office and is moving into worksite-focused
training. This training better equips organizations to
interact with people who have dementia.
SHIP has supported this community-led group by leading
trainings, coordinating educational events and advising partnering organizations
on how to update their policies and environment to better serve the aging
community.
The group also hosts a weekly caregiver support group and
monthly educational events for the community, and is developing awareness
tools.
Recently, the team celebrated its successes with more than
50 community members at “Sweet Moments in the Making,” where updates on all these efforts were shared.
