Introducing the New Tuesday Topics Format
The Minnesota
Department of Health (MDH) Family Home Visiting (FHV) program is pleased to
introduce you to the new Tuesday Topics format. The design for this format was
influenced by feedback MDH received during a fall 2016 survey of readers. This
improved version of the FHV e-bulletin includes an interactive table of
contents at left. Click on a section heading in the table of contents, and you
will automatically be directed to that section of the e-bulletin. When you are
finished reviewing the information in that section, simply click the “back to
top” button and you will be returned to the beginning of the e-bulletin. The
Links section that previously appeared in the e-bulletin is now gone. All links
to important documents and webpages are embedded within the postings. For your
convenience, an archive of the last month’s mailings has also been added at the
end of the e-bulletin. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the
new format. We hope you find the information in it useful and the new design
more user-friendly. All questions and comments about Tuesday Topics are welcome
at health.fhv@state.mn.us.
Changes to the
Evaluation Work Group SharePoint Site
We
are updating the Evaluation Work Group SharePoint Site to include additional
resources for grantees. The home page is
now a general Family Home Visiting site (see
screen shot), and the Evaluation Work Group page has been made a
subsite. Once you navigate to the
Evaluation Work Group subsite, everything will look exactly the same. While under development, you can access the
Evaluation Work Group materials by clicking on either of the links circled in
red below. If you have difficulty
navigating to the work group site, please contact Blair Olson, blair.h.olson@state.mn.us.

Counseling Approach that Fits with Native Values
April 5-7, 2017 – Onamia, MN
For this three-day
training, much of the focus will be on meaningful connections and uses of Motivational
Interviewing (MI) in a way that appreciates and supports the Native cultural
value system. MI, developed by William Miller, Ph.D. and Stephen Rollnick.
Ph.D. in the 1980s, is an evidence-based practice that holds a key to unlocking
clients’ own unique intrinsic motivations to make significant changes in their
lives. It has been shown to be an effective approach to treatment in many
fields including substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence, diabetes
management and other healthcare areas, juvenile justice, corrections and
workforce counseling. A $225 fee applies to attend this training. Click this link for more information and to register.
