Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education (SNAP-Ed), Minnesota
Action for Healthy Kids (MN AFHK) will issue Physical Activity and Nutrition
grants to high-need Minnesota schools – grants that will facilitate school
wellness enhancements focusing on healthy eating and physical activity and
ensuring that the healthy choice is the easy choice for MN students, families
and schools. Up
to 20 high-need, low income schools will be awarded $1,500 to support both
physical activity and nutrition initiatives that aid schools in creating and
expanding a dedicated health team and becoming recognized as health-promoting. View the paper application

A new report by the National Conference of State Legislatures,
(NCSL), funded
by Johns Hopkins Center for Livable Futures, shows that since 2012 the states
have supported what NCSL calls “local food systems.” These do not include food
safety, but rather trendy local food system approaches, farmers markets, community gardens and
urban agriculture, healthy retail groceries, and
food policy councils.
Proposals for Pro Walk/Pro
Bike/Pro Place, which will be held Sept. 12-15 2016 in Vancouver, BC are being accepted. Moving Towards a
Healthier World is the conference theme and proposals are sought for four focus
areas: Mobility, Governance, Health, and Resilience. Proposals will be accepted until 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29 (Eastern Time). Click here for

The Youth Bike Summit, hosted by Cycles for Change,
is now
accepting workshop proposal applications for the 2016 summit to be held on May 27-29 in St. Paul.
We are particularly

youth-led

Winter Cycling Congress will be held Feb. 2-4 in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. This is a three-day, professional development event that unites diverse and
international groups of people who share the vision of increasing
bicycling and walking among people of all ages and abilities through the
