Update - Food and Nutrition Service federal payments will continue if a federal shutdown occurs
Minnesota Department of Education sent this bulletin at 09/27/2013 10:14 AM CDTTO: Food and Nutrition Directors
FROM: Carol Thomas, Director, Safety, Health and Nutrition
DATE: September 27, 2013
SUBJECT: Food and Nutrition Service federal payments will continue if a federal shutdown occurs
This information is provided as a update of the memo dated September 18, 2013, by the Minnesota Department of Education relating to reimbursements for food and nutrition program expenses if a federal shutdown occurs on October 1, 2013.
We have received information from the U.S. Department of Agriculture clarifying the process the agency has available to draw down sufficient funds to cover reimbursements through the month of October for USDA food programs administered by the agency. As a result, the Minnesota Department of Education will have sufficient federal resources to reimburse food and nutrition claims and the agency will continue to process reimbursements for those expenses. Reimbursement claims should continue to be submitted through CLiCS and funds will be remitted to schools.
If a federal shutdown does occur and is of sufficient duration to impact reimbursements in the future we will strive to provide that notice in a timely manner.
Thank you for your understanding.
