'Run Edit Using Ed-Fi' in MARSS WES
If you do not see the “Run Edit Using Ed-Fi” link in MARSS WES, it is most likely because you haven't synced your Ed-Fi data yet for the current submission cycle. MDE has an hourly process that looks for your Ed-Fi data and if it is found, we will display the "run Edit using Ed-Fi data" link within the hour.
Ed-Fi only districts in Minnesota Automated Reporting Student System Web Edit System (MARSS WES)
With the two consolidations of four school districts in the 2026-27 school year, we have identified an issue where the Application Programming Interface (API) rejects students and generates errors within the Student Information System (SIS) when the previous resident district numbers are used. Please update the resident districts in the 2026-27 school year as follows:
- Previous district Milroy Public School District 0635-01 is now Tracy Area Public Schools 2913-01
- Previous district Tracy Area Public School District 2904-01 is now Tracy Area Public Schools 2913-01
- Previous district Carlton Public School District 0093-01 is now Carlton-Wrenshall Public Schools 2918-01
- Previous district Wrenshall Public School District 0100-01 is now Carlton-Wrenshall Public Schools 2918-01

Introduction to MARSS Reporting in Ed-Fi Video
A recorded "Introduction to MARSS Reporting in Ed-Fi" training session has been posted to the MDE website. You can find it at MDE > Districts, Schools and Educators > School Finance > MARSS Student Accounting > Training: MARSS Student Accounting > scroll down to +Recorded MARSS Trainings (click on the plus sign) or by following the hyperlink to the webpage directly.
Early Childhood Health and Developmental Screening in MARSS
Early Childhood Health and Developmental Screening is required for public school students and typically occurs between age three and kindergarten or first grade. Districts must use their local validation processes, including reviewing the MARSS 24 Secure Report, to ensure that all eligible MARSS PS or Grade PS enrollments are accurately reported, as these records generate state aid under MARSS Procedure 26. It is essential to include both the school and grade fields in all A/B file submissions, including end of year submissions. If these fields are omitted, the MARSS PS data may be overwritten or left unassigned, resulting in the loss of state aid for the district.
Approximately 80 percent of districts are dual reporting MARSS PS through both A/B file uploads and Ed Fi submissions for 2025-26. Until a district has formally certified that it will report MARSS data exclusively through Ed Fi, it must continue submitting MARSS PS through A/B file uploads.

Ed-Fi/MCCC Advisory Team 2026-27 SY Application Now Open

MCCC Closing Notes
The 2025-26 MDE Ed-Fi reporting year remains open through January 2027. While MCCC-related data updates from your SIS will appear in the Ed-Fi Data Validation Portal (EDVP) reports after October 15, 2026, only the data available on October 15, 2026, will be used for official reporting. MDE recommends:
- Downloading copies of your MCCC reports from the EDVP on October 15, 2026, for record-keeping and data comparison purposes.
- Disabling or "turning off" 2025-26 data syncs for the following Ed-Fi resources: Class Periods, Courses, Course Offerings, Course Course Associations, Grades, Grading Periods, Sessions, Sections, Staff Section Associations, and Student Section Associations. (Ask your student information system vendor for instructions, if this is possible in their software.)
Error #32 in MCCC Validation Report
On September 1, MDE updated the coding behind MCCC Validation Error #32. This increased the number of errors reported. Due to the large impact to LEAs, MDE has turned off MCCC Validation Error #32 for the remainder of the SY2026 submission. However, please note - some LEAs should be receiving MCCC Validation Error #32, but aren’t. If you need help reviewing your data to check for missing final grades, please contact the MCCC Help Desk or join us during MCCC Office Hours (see MDE Calendar) on Tuesdays from 2-3 p.m.
