Two Minnesota Students Selected as U.S. Presidential Scholars
The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program Celebrates the Accomplishments of Outstanding Students
MINNEAPOLIS — This month, the U.S. Department of Education announced the 61st class of 161 U.S. Presidential Scholars, including two students from Minnesota—Reece Kyran Joshi of Minneapolis, a student of Southwest High School, and Julia Lorenzen of Minneapolis, a student of St. Louis Park High School. Presidential Scholars are honored for their accomplishments in the academics, the arts, and career and technical education.
“Congratulations to Reece and Julia,” said Commissioner Willie Jett. “As we celebrate you, we encourage other students to learn from your example—your commitment to education, your leadership as students, and your dedication to community service.”
Of the 3.9 million students that graduated from high school this year, more than 6,400 candidates qualified for the 2025 award based on outstanding performance on the SAT or ACT exam, or nominations made by chief state school officers and partner recognition organizations.
Since 1964, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program has honored over 8,600 of the nation’s top-performing students.
