MDE Invites Minnesotans to Experience a Day at School in New State Fair Exhibit
MINNEAPOLIS – Today, the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) is debuting an all-new “Day at School” experience at the Minnesota State Fair. New this year in the Education Building, MDE’s redesigned booth takes visitors through a day at school and is a fun, interactive journey designed for kids, families, and lifelong learners.
-
School Meals: With over 150 million free school meals served and more on the way this year, a new activity highlights breakfasts and lunches served at schools across the state. Visitors will have the chance to vote for their favorite outcome of school meals—nutrition to focus at school, energy for activities, or opportunities to try new foods.
-
Family Reading Games: Visitors can take home new free reading games from a Families READ Toolkit library, designed by educators to help families build bonds and support literacy skills at home.
-
Trivia Wall: Academics maintains a presence at the MDE booth. With questions for early learners through high schoolers, fairgoers can test their academic knowledge using a new spinning trivia wall.
-
Thank an Educator: Back at the booth this year is MDE’s popular Thank an Educator activity. Visitors are invited to write a thank you card to a teacher or school staff member who made a difference in their life. MDE will deliver the notes during the academic year to schools across the state.
The booth is open every day of the Fair in the Education Building. A limited number of free tote bags will be available to visitors each day.
