Special Education Funding Training Webinars January–March 2025

Registration is open for each of the webinars listed below. To register, simply click on the training date and follow the instructions. Presentation material and information on joining the webinar will be sent to registered participants the day before each training.

Special Education MEGS Training Webinar

This session will cover the Minnesota Education Grants System (MEGS). The primary emphasis will be on how to log into MEGS, MEGS roles, Central Data Collection tile (Program Assurances), Coordinated Early Intervening Services (CEIS) grant application process, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part B, C and Discretionary Grant tiles, Special Education Data Reporting Application (SEDRA) budgets, reimbursement requests, closeout reports and important deadlines.

Training will be held on January 29, 2025, 10–11:30 a.m.

Special Education Maintenance of Effort (MOE) Webinar

The local MOE requirement obligates any local educational agency (LEA) receiving IDEA Part B funds to budget and spend at least the same amount of local—or state and local—funds for the education of children with disabilities on a year-to-year basis. The required MOE levels for budgeting and spending are referred to, respectively, as the “eligibility standard” and the “compliance standard.”

Topics discussed include the definition, eligibility standards, compliance standards, justification, consequences, reports and examples.

Training will be held on February 12, 2025, 10–11:30 a.m.

SEDRA 101 Beginners Training Webinar

This training is a basic introduction to using the SEDRA. The presentation will cover gaining access, website navigation, procedures, system coding, errors and more. An ideal training for those new to special education funding.

Training will be held on March 5, 2025, 10–11:30 a.m.

Special Education Cross-District FTE and Special Ed Contracts Training Webinar

This training is for those who work to resolve cross-district full time equivalent (FTE) errors in the SEDRA. The presentation will cover how to locate the Cross-District FTE Review screen, how to identify staff exceeding the FTE limit, whom to contact, and error resolution.

Training will be held on March 26, 2025, 10–11:30 a.m.
