Reminder: Informational Sessions Available for Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) Program Guidance

The PSEO program allows eligible high school students to enroll in college courses and receive dual credit. In addition, a series of PSEO program topics for districts and charter schools will be covered in short sessions running October 1 to December 3, including: legislative update for the 24-25 school year, courses according to agreements, grade weighting and access to technology, and more.   • Apoyando a nuestra niñez a tener una exitosa transición a kindergarten El acompañamiento de las familias durante la transición de sus niños a kindergarten es clave ayudarles a ser estudiantes exitosos. A family’s involvement during their child’s transition to kindergarten is key to supporting successful students. Two Latino families and a kindergarten staff member share their experience of how they collaborated to support the kindergarten transition and obtain the best education for their children. Reminder: Free College and Financial Aid Sessions Available to Minnesota Students

To support local high schools with their college application and financial aid efforts, the Ready, Set, FAFSA series will again be offered to students and families this fall. Running Tuesday evenings October 1-22, four Zoom sessions will cover the college application process, general financial aid information, details on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Minnesota Dream Act for undocumented students, and other ways to pay for college. All sessions will have simultaneous interpretation in Spanish, Somali, and Hmong. Financial aid experts from local colleges will be available during the events to conduct the Q and A in the chat. Students who attend are eligible to win a $1,000 scholarship.

Registration is open now for families. A promotional toolkit is available to schools with newsletter content and graphics. Please contact Beth Barsness for further information.

Reminder: Advanced Placement Equity Summit Hosted at MDE – October 23, 2024

MDE, in collaboration with the College Board and the Minnesota AP Advisory Council, is hosting a full-day summit to advance equity in the Advanced Placement program: how schools/districts can use data to inform their decisions about which AP courses to offer, and how to create equitable access to AP courses for all students. Participants will attend breakout sessions on different topics and share ideas with other schools via presentations, a panel, and networking. Districts are encouraged to bring a team, if possible. Intended audience includes superintendents, assistant superintendents, directors of curriculum/teaching and learning, principals, assistant principals, school counselors, AP coordinators or AP teachers.
