Important Application Information and Due Dates
Mid-February – Eligibility Map is updated for summer 2024.
Beginning of March – Application instructions are posted to the SFSP Applications webpage.
End of March – SFSP Applications in The Cyber-Linked Interactive Child Nutrition System (CLiCS) are available.
May 1 – New SFSP Sponsor Applications due in CLiCS.

New SFSP sponsor CLiCS applications (those who did not sponsor the SFSP in the prior summer) are due no later than May 1.
May 1 – Rural Non-Congregate Sites and Sponsor Applications Due in CLiCS.

Rural non-congregate CLiCS applications for eligible SFSP sites and sponsors are due no later than May 1. Rural non-congregate sites required a separate site identification (ID) and separate SFSP application, so allow sufficient time in order to meet the site application deadlines of May 1 for rural non-congregate.
May 15 – Renewing SFSP Sponsor Applications due in CLiCS.

Renewing SFSP sponsor CLiCS applications (those who did sponsor the SFSP in the prior summer) are due no later than May 15.
June 15 – For any new SFSP sites (regular congregate).
- Site ID requests for a new site take time to process. Allow sufficient time in order to meet the application deadlines of May 1 for rural non-congregate or June 15 for other new sites.

Rural Non-Congregate Meal Service Option
Rural Non-Congregate Sites – Plan Ahead
- Rural non-congregate sites for 2024 must be new sites having a separate new site ID;
- New site application requirements (due May 1) are in effect for all rural non-congregate sites;
- This includes pre-approval visit / Required Training / New Site Monitoring;
- Each Rural Non-congregate site must have an integrity plan uploaded into the site application;
- More information about the Rural Non-congregate integrity plan requirement will be made available at a later date;
- Meals served in a non-congregate manner from a site with an existing site ID (one that was not specifically created for rural non-congregate meal service) cannot be claimed for reimbursement or will be disallowed.
Rural Non-Congregate Meal Service Training March 28 – Save the Date
MDE will be offering training on rural non-congregate meal service in the SFSP on March 28, 2024, at 2 p.m. Look for a link to register in the next SFSP bulletin.
Training Opportunities – eLearning Option Available
SFSP training will be offered online again this year and sponsors and staff may access it at any time. The following courses are available on the SFSP Training webpage. Courses will be available for summer 2024 by mid-March.

2024 Reimbursement Rates
USDA has announced the SFSP reimbursement rates for calendar year 2024. To see the rates and more details, view the SFSP Reimbursement Rates 2024.
Contracts for Vended Meals
Visit the SFSP Procurement and Contracts webpage for procurement information and 2024 new/renewal vended meal contract templates. If your site receives vended meals, you must upload a fully executed contract into your CLiCS site application before the application can be approved.
