Annual Public Notice for Child Nutrition Programs

The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) distributed a public notice—including current income eligibility guidelines—to media on behalf of schools, childcare centers, family childcare sponsoring organizations, adult care centers and other organizations that participate in these U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) programs:

National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
School Breakfast Program (SBP)
Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

School Nutrition Programs (SNP)

Food Service Management Company (FSMC) Contract Approval Requirement Before July Claims Submission

School Nutrition Program sponsors contracting with a FSMC to provide meals to students under the NSLP and SBP for SY 2023-24 must submit all procurement documentation required for the Request for Proposals (RFP) process, including a signed contract, to mde.fsmc@state.mn.us, for approval.

Additionally, sponsors cannot submit July 2023 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) or Seamless Summer Option (SSO) claims until the contract documentation is received and approved. Approval will be indicated by the approval of the sponsor’s Cyber-Linked Interactive Child Nutrition System (CLiCS) School Nutrition application.

Sponsors who need assistance or have questions about the FSMC contract approval process should continue to reach out to MDE at mde.fsmc@state.mn.us for further information and support.

Register for Tuesday@2 Sessions for the 2023-24 School Year

Join the SNP teams for webinar trainings in the 2023-24 school year! Tuesday@2 webinars will be held on the second Tuesday each month, from 2 to 3:15 p.m.

New this year: Participants are able to register for the Tuesday@2 webinar series all at one time. To do so, click on the above link, click on the Register for August 22 link, then select the months that you would like to attend, enter the participant information and register. Topics will be announced in the Nutrition Program bulletin and updated at the webinar series registration link several weeks before each webinar date. Bookmark the registration link to easily view topic updates.

The first Tuesday@2 will be held as a special edition on August 22, 2023, at 2 p.m. The August Tuesday@2 topic is Direct Certification. Register at the webinar series link above.

School Nutrition Menu E-Poster

The USDA Team Nutrition released a School Lunch Menu e-poster. The e-poster is a fillable portable document format (PDF) file that can be used for electronic message boards, webpages and social media; or printed and displayed in sign holders. Download the e-poster.
