Paraprofessional Recognition Week
Paraprofessional Recognition Week is January 23-29. The official 2023 proclamation and certification will be posted on the Paraprofessionals webpage as soon as the documents are available.
Final Deadline Approaching: Minnesota COVID-19 School Testing Grants
The Minnesota COVID-19 School Testing Grant, FIN 170, is currently active and all school districts and charter schools that have applied and accepted funding are encouraged to begin drawing down funds from SERVS at this time and regularly throughout the year.
The final draw deadline for FIN 170 is July 22, 2023. All budget items that need MDE approval must be submitted by July 15, 2023. It is important that all funds are drawn by July 22, 2023, given the federal CDC grant deadline. If your district or charter school does not intend to spend the entirety of your FIN 170 award, please notify mde.testing@state.mn.us right away.

Developing a Schoolwide Program Part 2 of 3: Research and Planning
This workshop will explore further how effective school leaders engage and guide staff, families and students in the process of change and provide the school’s teams with tools, strategies and a framework to develop a comprehensive school improvement plan which is informed by the results of the completed Comprehensive Needs Assessment. Best practice student strategies will be identified and examined. Teams will learn how to establish specific, assignable SMART goals and begin to develop their plans to implement the Schoolwide program.
English Learner Coordinator Webinar
The English Learner (EL) Coordinator webinars are monthly web events for new and experienced EL program leaders and coordinators in Minnesota. Monthly topics vary and are based on timely information from the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions to EL Education Specialists and others from MDE during each webinar.
Emergency Housing Resources
Join MDE and special guests in a discussion about identifying the signs of homelessness, responding to a housing crisis, and referring to agencies, services, and networks when youth are facing housing insecurity or homelessness.
Title Tuesday – January 2023
Join members of MDE Student Access and Opportunity team every third Tuesday of the month to learn about topics that apply to many ESEA Title programs. Example topics include making amendments to your application, accepting and declining awards, and closing out awards. There is no need to register.
Migrant Student Information Form (MSIF) Workshop
Participants will be supported to complete the MSIF including all the required minimum data elements for migratory students.
Making Connections for Migratory Students
This workshop will give you a brief overview of the Migrant Education Program. During this training, participants will have the opportunity to meet members of the Minnesota Migrant Education Program team and discuss collaboration efforts and ways to help remove barriers for highly mobile families. Participants will learn about expectations of the migrant liaison, tools and resources available for school districts, reporting requirements, and learn how to advocate for migratory students.
Language Access Network
The Language Access Network (LAN) is a statewide community of practice that ensures families who speak languages other than English have access to information and services from public schools. LAN consists of school and school district personnel responsible for Minnesota's multilingual children and families' interpretation, translation and language access needs.
