Summer 2022 P-EBT

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved Minnesota’s summer P-EBT plan!

Students who were approved for free or reduced-price meals and enrolled in the last month of the 2021-22 school year in the P-EBT portal will automatically be eligible for summer 2022 P-EBT benefits.

Newly eligible students who submit new applications for educational benefits or are directly certified between July 1, 2022 through September 2, 2022, can be added to the portal to qualify.

Communicating Summer Deadline to Households

After July 1, communicate with affected households the deadline to apply for free or reduced-price meal status for newly eligible students for summer P-EBT benefits is September 2, 2022. School Year 2022-23 Applications for Educational Benefits must be received and date stamped by September 2, 2021. You may wish to target this message to new kindergarten and transfer students who did not already receive summer 2022 P-EBT benefits to avoid confusion with students who already received summer benefits.

Minnesota does not currently have guidance from USDA as to whether P-EBT benefits will continue into the 2022-23 school year. We will communicate any information as we receive it from USDA.
