Stepwell MN is live and ready for your physical holding data
Thank you for your patience as we roll out this new system. We apologize for our delay in getting Stepwell MN up and running, and we are so grateful for your understanding as we work to improve the restrictive procedures data collection process. We appreciate the challenges for district staff in gathering necessary information, attending trainings and learning a new system at the last minute – and during the summer. Due to the Minnesota Department of Education's (MDE’s) delay in completing the Stepwell MN system, MDE will continue to collect Physical Holding data until August 31, 2021. Please submit your 2020-21 Physical Holding data by August 31, 2021. We appreciate your patience and look forward to supporting you as you learn the Stepwell system and enter your data.
Before you start in Stepwell MN
Reporting through Stepwell MN will require the following information:
- Names and Minnesota Automated Reporting Student System (MARSS) numbers for students who were physically held during the 2020-21 school year. You will also want to have access to demographic information for students in the event you need to add students to Stepwell.
- The number of holds and number of injuries experienced by each student.
- Information to answer the narrative response questions about what has worked in your district to reduce the use of restrictive procedures.
- Your district Identified Official with Authority (IOwA) will need to assign you as a District Leader to access Stepwell MN. If you need help securing Education Identity and Access Management (EDIAM) access, visit the Data Submissions page or email useraccess.mde@state.mn.us with questions.
-
A recording of the June 24 Stepwell MN training regarding restrictive procedures is available on the Zoom website. If you would like a copy of Stepwell’s Powerpoint presentation, please email Karen Reiter at Karen.reiter@state.mn.us.
