Funding for Minnesota Licensed Special Educators: Work-Based Learning Licensure Endorsement
Overview
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development-Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DEED-VRS) is partnering with Minnesota teacher preparation programs that are approved by the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) to train special educators who are licensed to teach in Minnesota to receive a work-based learning (WBL) licensure endorsement. This licensure endorsement allows educators to teach WBL courses at Minnesota secondary schools.
Funding from DEED-VRS will cover tuition (and associated fees), books, and supply costs to help special educators obtain a WBL licensure endorsement. Funding will not include either applicable application fees or the PELSB licensure fee.
To be considered for this funding, applicants must have a current Tier 3 or 4 Minnesota special education teacher license. Special educators must obtain their WBL endorsement by September 30, 2022.
Qualifying Minnesota WBL teacher preparation programs are:
- Lakes Country Service Cooperative
- St. Cloud State University
An additional program may be added at a later date. Contact Alyssa Klein for additional information.
