Distance Learning Practitioner Conference Call March 20, 2020

The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) plans to host a conference call for distance learning practitioners Friday, March 20, 2020, beginning at 1 p.m. Topics for discussion include:

  • How to deliver related services via telepractice
  • Things that anyone moving into online delivery of services needs to keep in mind
  • How the change in the setting can change the needs of the student and thus impact the Individualized Education Program (IEP)

Please inform your staff who may be interested in these topics of this opportunity. We anticipate the call will be participatory with a balance between providing information on what practitioners have done and what works and hearing from them on what they need and what they are doing.

Interested practitioners may join the WebEx teleconference from the Minnesota Online Teachers' Network website.

Grant Deadlines Extended

To support district, charter and institute of higher education contingency planning related to COVID-19, the Minnesota Department of Education is extending the deadline for two competitive grants. Applications for both the Grow Your Own grant and the Minnesota Indian Teacher Training Program (MITTP) grant will now be due on Friday, April 10, 2020. Applicants who have already submitted applications will be allowed to resubmit their materials if they choose.

The question and answer period for both grants will also be extended, and these updates will be published on the competitive grant opportunity page for each grant by March 18.

Questions about this communication or the Grow Your Own grant should be sent to Tyler Livingston, or call 651-582-8427.

Questions about the Minnesota Indian Teacher Training Program should be sent to Guthrie Capossela, or call 651-582-8682.
