CACFP Trainer’s Tools: Feeding Infants

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Team Nutrition has released videos and digital interactive games to accompany the presentation slides, trainer notes, and trainer’s guide of the Feeding Infants in the CACFP handbook.  USDA Team Nutrition is also working to make these resources available as a printable kit that includes all of the videos, PowerPoint slides, and digital interactives on a USB flash drive. In addition, a Spanish version of this kit will be available at a later date. Access the online resources now on the USDA website.

 

Webinar on CACFP Trainer’s Tools: Feeding Infants

CACFP Trainers’ Circle features a training opportunity on the new tools for feeding infants on Thursday, December 12, 2019.  This webinar is free and will be held from 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Register for the webinar.

What training topics would you like to see more of? Let us know by December 4, 2019!

The Minnesota Department of Education’s Team Nutrition program would like to learn more about your training needs as they relate to the Child and Adult Care Food Program. Please fill out the CACFP training survey by 11:59 p.m., on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. It will take no longer than 10 minutes.

Directors, classroom staff, and cooks who work in the following settings are encouraged to complete the survey:

  • Child care centers
  • Adult care centers
  • Head Start
  • At-risk afterschool
  • Emergency shelter

We want to hear which topics you would like to see more training on. Some examples of topics could be:

  • Improving the mealtime environment
  • Cooking skills
  • Special diets
  • Whatever else you want to learn about!

Please share the link with other staff who work in CACFP centers. The results of the survey will inform the in-person and online trainings that will be offered over the next three years.

School Nutrition Programs (SNP)

Verification Due by End of Day Today (December 2)

Verification reports are due in CLiCS by end of the day, December 2. Begin by printing your report to gather the necessary data requested. Enter your report now to avoid having to correct errors at the last minute. Your school’s nutrition program payments may be in jeopardy after the December 2 deadline. Resources to assist you in reporting verification are available on the Minnesota Department of Education website:

Local Wellness Policy - Triennial Assessment Reminder

This is a friendly reminder that School Food Authorities (SFAs) are required to complete their first Local Wellness Policy triennial assessments by June 30, 2020. The triennial assessment are monitored through the administrative review. The following resources can assist you with components of the triennial assessment.
