The 2019 Minnesota Student Survey (MSS) questions have been revised to correct a few errors that recently came to our attention. The links are the same as before, but will now take you to modified versions of the survey. If you accessed copies of the survey prior to November 13, 2018, please download the following amended versions to share with parents/guardians:

Important: Gibson Consulting, the MSS contractor, will be reaching out to district contacts via email on Monday, November 26, with registration information. The email will be sent from jcarle@gibsonconsult.com. Please ensure that MSS district contacts (superintendents and district assessment coordinators) add this email to their list of acceptable addresses so it does not get caught in spam filters. You may designate a third contact by going to the Minnesota Student Survey Contact Information webpage.

The first draft of the revised Minnesota K-12 Science Education Standards 2019 is now available. The public is invited to provide feedback during the public review and comment period November 9-26, 2018. Using the online survey, please provide your feedback on the First Draft of the Minnesota Academic Standards in Science – 2019, or attend one of the town hall meetings and provide your feedback in person. You can view the draft standards and town hall meeting schedule on the Science Education webpage. The date by which all schools must implement the new standards will be determined during the rulemaking process. An updated 2018 Payable 2019 Levy Limitation and Certification Report for each school district has been posted to the Minnesota Department of Education website for the final levy certification phase. Please see the 2018 Payable 2019 Process for Final Levy memorandum posted to the Levy Certification Process webpage for information and requirements.

The documentation for the 2018 National School Lunch Program, Equipment Grant Opportunity, including the instructions, application and budget documentation are now available on Minnesota Department of Education’s grant opportunity website.
This grant will enable grantees to purchase new equipment that will assist them to serve healthier meals, improve food safety and energy efficiency, and expand access and participation. Please see the grant instructions for the specific, allowable outcomes for this grant program.

The School Safety Technical Assistance Center invites superintendents, district and school leaders and school staff to participate in its new School Climate Improvement Webinar Series. School climate improvement is an evidence-based practice that fosters student engagement and school connectedness. It is also the most effective way to support student learning by preventing disruptive behaviors such as bullying and harassment. During the webinars, superintendents, district and school leaders will receive information on how they can best lead and support school climate improvement efforts.
