Arts Standards Review Process Launched

The 2008 Minnesota K-12 academic standards in the arts will be reviewed and revised during the 2017-18 school year. The arts standards are reviewed only once every 10 years, so it is important that we establish a highly qualified, diverse review committee that understands best practices in arts education and the range of student needs across our state. Please share this message with curriculum coordinators, arts educators, and others who may be interested in applying for the standards committee. We appreciate your support of their participation should they be selected. Thank you.

Apply for the Arts Standards Committee
Candidates are sought to review and revise Minnesota’s K-12 arts standards. Serving on the committee requires an intense time commitment of at least 10 full-day committee meetings from October 2017, to May 2018. All committee members are required to attend the initial two-day meeting scheduled on October 30-31 at MDE. Selected committee members will be announced on the MDE website on September 29.

Visit the MDE arts page to read the Assumptions for Guiding the Standards Committee’s Work, review the timeline, and access the online application. The deadline for applying to the committee is Tuesday, September 19.
