General Education Aid Entitlement Error on July 15th IDEAS State Aid Payment

It has come to our attention that an error has been made in the FY18 general education aid entitlement basis that was loaded to the July 15 IDEAS state aid payment. The amount loaded to the IDEAS system for Independent School Districts was total revenue, which includes both state aid and local levies, and payments were calculated based on this higher total revenue amount. As a result, districts’ July 15 payments may be higher than they should have been, and the estimated future payments are overstated. Corrected entitlements will be loaded for the July 30 IDEAS payment.  

To see details on general education revenue calculations, as well as aid and levy splits, please reference the FY18 General Education What If posted on the Minnesota Department of Education website. To access the What If select Data Reports and Analytics under the data center tab. Scroll down to the school finance spreadsheets and select general education. Using the drop down menus select general education for category, interactive projection models for subcategory and, 2018 for the year. Then click list files for the download.
