TRAININGS

Focusing on School Nursing to Improve Practice and Recoup Revenue – June 21-23, 2017

The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) recognizes that school districts have increased billing Medical Assistance (MA) for each of the Individualized Educational Program (IEP) health-related services except for nursing services. Billing for nursing services continues to be the professional service billed by the least number of school districts, around 30 percent. The department is hosting a replication of the successful training held the past two summers that focuses on documenting student needs and nursing interventions so that districts can recoup additional revenue.

Training will be held June 21-22, 2017, at MDE and a training of trainers on June 23, 2017. Please share this training invitation with school nurses. Registration is on a first come first served basis (capacity 85) or open until June 12, whichever occurs first.

Travel expenses may be covered by district third party billing revenue as the training includes information on increasing billing and improving special education services for children.

For more information, please email Ruth Ellen Luehr or call 651-582-8403.

MDE Releases Updated List of Programs and Resources to Help Stop the Summer Slide

For some families, summer vacation represents an ideal time to pursue interests, study music, go to camp, tackle creative projects, or take educational trips. However, not all children have access to enriching activities during the summer months. To help parents, educators and families access affordable learning opportunities over the summer, the Minnesota Department of Education has created an updated list of resources and programs. Visit our Summer Learning web page for information on how to find appropriate reading materials, practice math skills, participate in STEM projects, and find free nutritious meals.
