Congratulations to Loraine Jensen

Dear Colleagues:

 

It is with mixed emotions that I announce that Loraine Jensen has accepted a position with MDE’s Division of Special Education Policy to lead the State Professional Development Grant initiative beginning November 15th.  Loraine has been a vibrant member of the Early Learning Service team for almost two years as Minnesota’s Part C Coordinator.  During her tenure the state has made great strides in implementing a statewide public awareness and outreach campaign and initiated an online referral system, making it easier for primary referral sources to connect children with suspected disabilities and their families to services.  Loraine has supported the Governor’s Interagency Coordinating Council (ICC) in its work to advise and assist MDE in our Part C efforts.  For the past year, Loraine has partnered with newly restructured Interagency Early Intervention Committees as they developed work plans, budgets, policies and procedures.  Her leadership in Part C will be sorely missed.  On behalf of the Early Childhood Special Education Services team we ask everyone to congratulate Loraine and wish her a smooth transition into this new and important role.
