Notification to Minnesota Food Businesses Regarding Emek Brand Pistachio Cream
St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Departments of Health (MDH) and Agriculture (MDA) are investigating an outbreak of Salmonella Oranienburg. As part of the investigation, two containers of Emek brand pistachio cream were sampled and tested positive for the outbreak strain of Salmonella Oranienburg, confirming it as the source of the outbreak.
The production date on both positive products is listed as “PNO: 241019” with a use-by date of 19/10/26 (note that the date is listed European-style DD/MM/YY). Emek pistachio cream is a product of Turkey. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is currently working with the manufacturer to recall the product.
If you have Emek brand pistachio cream at your facility or business:
- Do not serve or sell the product.
- Discard the product safely or return it to your distributor.
- Clean and sanitize.
- Clean and sanitize all surfaces and equipment that may have come in contact with this product.
