Our Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom (MAITC) team is celebrating the 2024-25 school year by selecting a focus area for each month. Teacher professional development, virtual field trips, classroom lessons, AgMag connections and more will be shared each month! Our December focus area is "Food and Culture". The resources featured this month will explore the many connections between agriculture, food and cultures.
Visit our new webpage featuring these monthly focus areas for more details.

In early November, 102 Minnewaska fifth graders connected with local agriculture businesses and explored farms in their community for their Farm Camp experience. Each stop inspired curiosity and highlighted the importance of innovation, sustainability, and community. One of the key messages shared was “Right this very minute, farmers are growing the best food, creating products, and stewarding the land for future generations.”
Each Farm Camp experience is customized for classrooms grade 5-12 throughout the state of Minnesota with the opportunity to witness agriculture in person and make connections with potential careers. Find out how to get your classroom’s Farm Camp experience started here: https://farmcampminnesota.org/connect-me.
December Trivia Question: In which U.S. state was the first Christmas Tree farm established in 1901?
Send your answer to sue.knott@state.mn.us. The first two people to respond with the correct answer will win an MAITC travel mug.
