Our Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom team is celebrating the 2022-2023 school year by selecting a focus area for each month. Lessons, virtual field trips, AgMag connections and more will be shared each month! Our October focus area is Farm to School. The resources featured this month will celebrate National Farm to School Month and thank the farmers, school nutrition professionals, educators and community connectors who make it possible for locally grown foods to be featured in school cafeterias and classrooms. Visit our webpage featuring these monthly focus areas for more details.

During our 2021-2022 season, over 900 students participated in a Farm Camp experience! These students were able to touch, see, and smell life out on the farm and connect with the people who raise livestock and grow crops in Minnesota.
Sadly, there were schools that had to cancel their Farm Camp experiences due to lack of district funding. When we went to our incredible investors with this information, they came back with heartwarming support. Because of investor generosity and commitment, the MAITC Foundation is now able to offer Farm Camp Transportation Grants to help educators take their students out to see what agriculture is all about.
Spread the word to your Gr 5-12 educator connections that there is a way for them to get out onto the farm with financial support! Learn more about our transportation grants HERE.
The MAITC Foundation is excited to offer grants to K-12 teachers, as well as 4-H and FFA groups! Applicants are encouraged to be creative and develop interesting, valuable agricultural experiences for their students that address multiple curricular areas. Applications are due November 15, 2022.
One MAITC Outstanding Teacher Award will be given to an educator currently engaged in classroom instruction at the K-12 grade levels. This award will recognize the teacher for his/her creative efforts to teach students about the importance of agriculture. The winning Minnesota teacher will receive $500 and have up to $1,500 of related expenses paid to attend the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference June 27-30, 2023 in Orlando, Florida.
