Welcome Fall!

It's September! The school year is underway for teachers, students and families across Minnesota. Many farmers are anxiously awaiting harvest season, and some of our Minnesota fall crops are ready to be picked! Our Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom (MAITC) team is here to assist you as the season changes from summer to fall. Please reach out to our MAITC team of Education Specialists and Regional Curriculum Specialists if there is guidance we can offer as you integrate agriculture into your classroom and curricula.

September Focus Area: Introduction to Agriculture

Our MAITC team is celebrating the 2022-2023 school year by selecting a focus area for each month. Lessons, virtual field trips, AgMag connections and more will be shared each month! We're kicking off the fun with our September focus area as "Introduction to Agriculture". The resources featured this month will introduce K-12 students to the many ways that agriculture impacts their daily lives. Can you have a day without agriculture? There's no way!

Visit our new webpage featuring these monthly focus areas for more details.

Celebrate Farm to School Month in October

October is Farm to School and Early Care Education (ECE) month in Minnesota and across the nation. It is a time to celebrate by inviting students, their families and their communities to crunch into fresh seasonal food, grown on local farms. It’s also a time to share gratitude with those who make Farm to School and ECE possible including farmers, educators, nutrition professionals and community connectors. There are many ways to celebrate in October, like the Great Lakes Apple Crunch on October 13, 2022, or serving a MN Thursday meal. Learn more on the University of Minnesota Extension’s Farm to School Month webpage.
