Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom (MAITC) will be leading hands-on activities from 1:30-3:30 p.m. every day of the Minnesota State Fair (Aug. 25 - Sept. 5)! You can find us in the North Wing of the Agriculture/Horticulture Building in the Minnesota Department of Agriculture exhibit space. See you at the Fair!
Did you know that there’s a free, custom magazine for every grade, K-6, available to all teachers and students? Each AgMag issue aligns with Minnesota academic standards, and there are also free lesson plans for each edition to seamlessly integrate into curricula! AgMags provide a unique piece for students to engage with beyond their typical textbooks and materials. The print magazine and digital content features real-life farmers and businesses from across the state, highlighting people and organizations that kids can feel a connection to.

The CHS Foundation is offering $500 grants to kindergarten-12th grade teachers who have classroom projects that use agricultural concepts to teach reading, writing, math, science, social studies and more. Eligible projects include classroom and schoolyard gardens, embryology projects, aquaculture projects, and agricultural literacy reading programs to name a few. Applications are due Sept.15, 2022.
The Adopt a Cow program is a great way to engage students with a topic you know they’ll love: animals. Your classroom will be paired with a calf from a dairy farm in the United States, and throughout the program, you’ll find out what her name is, when her birthday is, where she lives, and how the farmer takes care of her.
August Trivia Question: What is the name of the official Minnesota State Fair mascots?
Send your answer to sue.knott@state.mn.us. The first two people to respond with the correct answer will a MAITC reusable bag.
