Have you ever wondered how milk is made into the cheese we enjoy? Join us to learn more about the process of turning milk into cheese with a virtual field trip to Bongards, a Minnesota-based farmer-owned cooperative that has been crafting premium dairy products for over 110 years. **This tour will include both live video in the cheese plant and an 8 min prerecorded video tour that shows the entire process.

Tashjian Bee and Pollinator Discovery Center

Bees and other pollinators are essential for plant, animal, and human health around the world. Join us on a virtual field trip as we visit Ping Honzay at the Tashjian Bee and Pollinator Discovery Center in Chanhassen, MN. Students will learn about the life cycle, habitat, and importance of pollinators in agriculture and the natural world. They will get to see real examples of how bees are cared for, as well as learn some uses for honey, wax, and other bee products.
Tiffany Kobbermann, a Family and Consumer Science teacher at Minnewaska High School in Glenwood, MN, has been selected as the MAITC 2022 Outstanding Teacher Award. In her application, Kobbermann shared that "all of my lessons are agriculturally based. I believe that students need a well-rounded perspective of agriculture. My hope is that my students will share the positive things they learn with their friends and families and the circle of learning will continue to grow." Kobbermann will receive a $500 stipend and up to $1,500 in expenses to attend the 2022 National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference in Saratoga Springs, New York in June 2022.
