North Bay Produce Recalls Fresh Apples

October 28, 2019North Bay Produce, Inc. is recalling 2,297 cases and 2 bulk bins of fresh apples due to the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Recalled varieties include McIntosh, Honeycrisp, Jonathan, Fuji, Jonamac and Red Delicious apples. Recalled apples were sold in plastic bags under the brands; Great Lakes, North Bay Produce Pure Michigan as well as unbranded in clear plastic tote bags, white paper tote bags, and individually from retailers display trays. The recalled apples were shipped between October 16th, 2019 and October 21st, 2019.

Peekay International Inc. Expands Recall of “Swan Dried Apricot” And “Keshav Dry Apricot”

October 23, 2019 – Peekay International Inc. is recalling “SWAN DRY APRICOT” and “KESHAV DRY APRICOT” because they contain undeclared sulfites. Consumers who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.

The recalled products were distributed nationwide in retail stores and through mail orders. The products come in a 7 and 14 ounce, clear plastic packages with UPCs 4386423302 and 4386423303.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in the 14 ounce packages of “KESHAV DRY APRICOT” which were not declared on the label. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of the “KESHAV DRY APRICOT” revealed they contained 109 milligrams per serving.
