Northfork Bison Distributions Inc. Recalls Bison Burgers & Bison Ground Due to Illness Outbreak

July 17, 2019 – Northfork Bison Distributions Inc. is recalling Bison Burgers & Bison Ground because they have the potential to be contaminated with E. coli: O121 and O103.

The recalled Bison Burgers & Bison Ground were distributed across Eastern & Central U. S., to institutions and retail outlets.

The institutions that have Bison Burgers and Bison Ground in their inventory with the production date: February 22, 2019 – April 30, 2019, are urged to contact their distributor for a full refund. For the retail outlets, the Bison Burgers (4 x 4 oz) in question, with the expiration date up to October 8th, 2020, can be clearly identified by their blue boxes with the Northfork Bison logo prominently displayed. Consumers who have purchased these Bison Burgers are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Illnesses have been reported; the number and extent of which are currently under investigation.

Pita Pal Foods, LP Recalls Hummus and Dips

July 16, 2019 – Pita Pal Foods, LP has issued a recall of various brands of hummus and dip products made between May 30, 2019 and June 25, 2019, due to concerns over Listeria monocytogenes, which was identified at the manufacturing facility (not in finished product) during an FDA inspection.

This recall affects the following brands: Bucee's, Fresh Thyme, Harris Teeter, Hummus Hummus, Lantana, Lidl, Pita Pal, Reasor's, Roundy's, Schnucks, and 7-Select. for a full list of recalled products click here.

The products were distributed nationwide and to United Arab Emirates. Consumers who have purchased products listed below with these use by dates are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Wismettac Asian Foods Recalls Fish Cakes Due to Undeclared Allergens

July 16, 2019 – Wismettac Asian Foods, Inc. is issuing a recall of Shirakiku brand imported fish cake products because of the possible contamination of some allergens (Milk, Egg and Crustacean shellfish). People who have a sensitivity to milk, egg or shellfish run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.

To ensure consumer safety, all distribution of the affected products have ceased and retailers have been notified for the removal from shelves. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was issued after testing by the Candian Food Inspection Agency discovered the presence of allergens that were not listed on the product label. The manufacturer in Kagoshima, Japan has been made aware of the issue and is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the issue so corrections can be implemented.

To ensure consumer safety, all distribution of the affected products have ceased and retailers have been notified for the removal from shelves. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Lot Codes and expiration dates for individual bars are printed on the back of each wrapper.

PROBAR issued the recall in after receiving a complaint of an allergic reaction in a consumer after eating a PROBAR: MEAL Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip bar. Our investigation determined that an ingredient potentially contained milk and soy. To date, PROBAR has received this one report of illness.
