Webinar: Pitfalls of Machine Generated PDFs
Date: June 30, 2022
Time: 10-11am, Central Time
Description:
“Many organizations provide Portable Document Format (PDF) files to their users because it allows them to provide electronic documents with text and images in a way that preserves formatting and is independent of browsers, hardware, and operating systems. Historically, people who use assistive technologies are frustrated with this format because many PDF files have accessibility issues. While those concerned about accessibility are familiar with WCAG, PDF accessibility is often the viewed as a 'step-child.' There are an estimated 2.5 trillion PDFs on the web. In addition, an unknown number of PDFs are created automatically or on demand on computer systems that convert HTML and data sources to PDF. Nearly every accountancy, sales, enterprise resource planning, or invoicing system can generate a PDF. Only a handful of server-based tools create accessible PDFs. This webinar will review the PDF format, explain the pitfalls of some conversion methods, and give possible solutions.”
Speaker:
- Richard Steinberg, Accessibility Implementation Lead, Wells Fargo
