
2026 Single Family RFP – School Direct Cost Information Session Coming Soon
Applicants interested in applying for School Direct Cost funds through the Single Family RFP are encouraged to join an online information session on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 3 p.m. Central time. Interested prospective applicants can register using this link.
Eligible Entities
Funds for School Direct Cost activities may be awarded to a:
- School district;
- Cooperative unit as defined in Minnesota Statute 123A.24 subdivision 2;
- Charter school;
- Contract alternative school;
- Tribal contract school; or
- Nonprofit organization contracted by one of the preceding entities.
Multi-organization collaboration and partnership is welcomed but not required. In the case of multi-organization collaboration and partnership, one organization must be the applicant. The applicant must be one of the eligible entities noted above. If awarded funding, this will be the organization that will enter into a contractual agreement with Minnesota Housing.
NOTE: Nonprofit organizations or individual schools that are neither cooperative units as defined in Minnesota Statute 123A.24 subdivision 2 or charter schools are ineligible to apply.
Eligible Uses
Grant funds are available for direct costs related to the construction of homes, including building materials, construction tools, subcontractors and professional labor.
Costs not directly related to home construction or rehabilitation are ineligible. Ineligible costs include, but are not limited to, teacher salaries, transportation expenses, program administration and more.

Technical Assistance is Available
Prospective applicants are encouraged to ask questions or schedule technical assistance with Impact Fund team members. To ask a question, email the Impact Fund team at Impact.Fund.MHFA@state.mn.us.
The Single Family RFP Information Session, Office Hours sessions, and all RFP Technical Assistance meetings will be recorded and transcribed. Questions asked during all sessions will be added to the Frequently Asked Questions, which will be posted on the Impact Fund webpage and updated from time to time. The deadline to ask questions or receive Technical Assistance is Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at noon Central time.
