The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has released guidance on Strategies to Mitigate Resource Constraints During COVID-19 Surges. This guidance discussed how to prioritize mitigation strategies in the context of resource shortages to allow for continuity of operations. The guidance discusses “good, better, best” strategies for mitigating the impacts of COVID-19 in congregate settings. The MDH team will walk through the guidance and take your questions on the weekly provider webinar tomorrow.
The Child Tax Credit (CTC) and Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) are large tax refund payments that people can receive when they file a tax return. The 2021 American Rescue Plan (ARP) expanded who can receive these payments including more low-income families and increased the amount of money available to many families and individuals. The Child Tax Credit payment does not count as income and will not impact public assistance benefits or immigration status.
Parents need to file their taxes to get the credit. GetYourRefund.org/MNDHS is a free to tax filing resources that can help find the best option for parents to file their taxes, including an option to get free help from a certified tax specialist.
The Minnesota Department of Human Services has developed an informational flyer and a two-page memo with information to help spread the word. Many low-income families may not know they are eligible for the Child Tax Credit, so with tax season underway it is important to spread the word through the tax filing season (filing deadline is April 18) to make sure they don’t miss on this opportunity!
