To be protected from eviction for past due rent under the statewide eviction moratorim “off-ramp,” all renters must have a pending application in to RentHelpMN by October 12, 2021. Apply for assistance at renthelpmn.org or by calling 211. Starting in June 2021, the “off ramp” has a series of stages that allow landlords to resume terminating leases or file evictions. The infographic below highlights key dates for these stages. More details and answers to frequently asked questions can be found on Minnesota Housing’s website. If you are aware of renters with past-due rent who have not applied to renthelpmn.org, please encourage them to do so.

Last month the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released the program requirements for the HOME-ARP funding. Jurisdictions awarded these funds, including the State of Minnesota, are reviewing the guidance, and learning more about the program requirements as quickly as possible. HUD is hosting a series of webinars to walk through the newly released guidance and process for using the HOME-ARP funds. You can register for the webinars and find the guidance and fact sheets on the HOME-ARP website. Awarded jurisdictions will shape plans for deploying these funds based on these requirements. Please stay tuned for additional details about opportunities to help inform the State’s allocation of HOME-ARP funding in the weeks ahead. If you are looking to be in touch with a local jurisdiction, you can find the HOME contact for each jurisdiction here.
